Turn My Eyes from Empty Things
Turn my eyes away from looking at empty things, and give me life in the true way.
What "empty thing" took the most of my eyes and time today?
📝Reflection
The poet asks not "let me not see" but "turn my eyes away." Empty things are always around us. We cannot remove them, but we can choose where to fix our gaze. Our age overflows with things that seize the eyes — endless scrolling, other people's lives, sensational news. Far from giving us life, these slowly wither us. I spent much of my day looking at things that wilted me. Choosing what to look at was the same as choosing what to live on. Small decisions to turn the gaze away add up to the direction of a life.
🌱Apply It Today
When your hand reaches for a screen that wilts you today, consciously turn your eyes away once and look at something else for three minutes.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
