📌 ONE QUESTION FROM THIS LIFE

How will I be remembered today by those I met?

📝ONGO's Reflection

The first time I met Confucius was inside a school exam question. But behind that embalmed nameplate of the sage stood a man who wandered his whole life and never found a place to put his ideas into practice. He failed in his own time. And yet he did not crumble before his students, nor grovel before poverty. Whenever I face one of the small defeats of an ordinary day, I find it worth picturing his back. Quietly, he shows that it is not great success but an unbreakable bearing that lets a person endure across the centuries.

"To know what you know and what you do not know, that is true knowledge."
Confucius, 論語 為政篇 (The Analects, Book II)

🌱Apply It Today

To one person you meet today, offer a single sentence that asks after them sincerely, instead of a polite formality. The ren (humaneness) Confucius spent his life teaching is nothing grand; it begins in exactly that one sentence.
