Mozi walked the opposite road in the same age as Confucius. Where Confucius said to love your family first, Mozi said to love all without distinction — universal love. His ideas were so radical that they vanished after the Han dynasty. But in our own age — a fractured age where we tend only to our own family, our own nation, our own side — Mozi returns as the voice we need most. When the suffering of someone far away becomes our own concern, only then do we rise to a higher rank of human being. Mozi climbed that step two thousand years ago.
