This is an anonymous Yuan-dynasty Chinese bird-and-flower painting, holding a scene where flowers and birds blend together. The name of the one who painted it is not handed down, yet the flowers and birds are still vivid. In this nameless painting I see the sincerity of the work. Knowing his name would not remain, the painter still drew a single flower and a single bird with care. What is done not because someone will recognize it but simply from the wish to do it well lasts the longest. A hand that poured in devotion regardless of reward remains before us now, across the years.
