🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What state of being does a painting of immortals walking with a deer depict?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is a painting said to be by Kim Hong-do, in which two immortals walk at ease together with a deer. The deer does not fear the people and stays at their side. It holds the old meaning that before one who has emptied out desire, even a beast lowers its guard. In this peace I see the power of emptying. When one withdraws the air of trying to take something in hand, both people and beasts draw near. The more one reaches out a hand to grasp, the more they recede; only when one sets the hand down do they at last approach. If you would keep someone near, you must first loosen the heart that would grasp.

🌱Apply It Today

The more you wish to keep someone near, rather than reaching out to grasp, try once setting down the heart that would seize them.
