🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"Beyond the wish for long life, what does a person truly desire?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This Japanese album by Taki Katei holds peaches and a crane. Both peach and crane are old signs that wish for long life. People kept such paintings at their side, praying to live long. Yet at the bottom of the wish for long life lies a deeper question, of what one will fill that time with. The insight held in signs of longevity is universal. Here I see the two faces of time. A life that only lengthens its span and a life that adds to its depth are not the same. Living well comes before living long.
