Kakutei Peonies and Red-biled Blue magpie

🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"How do splendor and liveliness blend within one frame?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is a bird-and-flower painting on silk by the Japanese painter Kakutei, in which a red-billed blue magpie sits with vitality beside a peony in full bloom. The bright coloring of Japanese painting stands out, yet its mood reaches any heart. In this painting I see the virtue of harmony. The heavily blooming flower and the lightly moving bird set each other off. A frame that, with only one of them, would have been static or scattered, is completed when the two meet. Only when differing natures meet does balance arise.
