Seogwoldo

서궐도
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What does a painting of an empty palace, spread out without a single person, hold?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is the Seogwoldo, which spreads out the halls of Gyeonghui Palace. The composition lines up countless buildings, yet almost no human figure is to be seen. The places where power and glory came and went remain empty. In this stillness I see impermanence. People depart and only buildings remain, and even those buildings someday remain only as a painting. Yet the empty palace is not only desolate. Where people are emptied out, the traces of the countless lives that passed through dwell. Emptying is not an end but a place of memory.

🌱Apply It Today

When a place you have passed through stands empty, look back once at what traces and memories you left there.
