DAY 72

The Lamp of Knowledge Dispels the Dark

Bhagavad Gītā 10:11
기원전 2세기경 편찬(서사시 전승)
ORIGINAL
नाशयाम्यात्मभावस्थो ज्ञानदीपेन भास्वता (nāśayāmy ātma-bhāva-stho jñāna-dīpena bhāsvatā)
📜 THE VERSE

The darkness born of ignorance is driven out by the shining lamp of knowledge, lit deep within the heart.

💡 TL;DR

Darkness does not vanish by being pushed.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Do I struggle against the dark, or do I simply try to light one lamp?

📝Reflection

Darkness does not vanish by being pushed. When light enters, it withdraws without a fight. The lamp of knowledge the old teacher speaks of is not the quantity of facts but the flame of understanding that lights up the illusions that blur me. It is the same ground as the Buddha's 'be a lamp unto yourself.' Fear and confusion are darkness; they retreat only as far as understanding is lit. Better to shine a clear light on today's anxiety than to wrestle it.

🌱Apply It Today

Write down one vaguely frightening thing today in plain words, and shine the light of understanding on what it actually is.
