DAY 88

Even Clarity, Clutched, Becomes a Chain

Bhagavad Gītā 14:6
기원전 2세기경 편찬(서사시 전승)
ORIGINAL
तत्र सत्त्वं निर्मलत्वात्प्रकाशकमनामयम् (tatra sattvaṁ nirmalatvāt prakāśakam anāmayam)
📜 THE VERSE

Clarity is spotless, luminous, and free of ailment — yet the moment one clutches at its joy and its knowing as 'this is me,' even that brightness becomes a chain.

💡 TL;DR

Here lies the depth of this verse: clarity (sattva) is the best of the three, yet clutched, even it becomes a chain.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

When my mind is clear and calm, do I cling even to that state, afraid to lose it?

📝Reflection

Here lies the depth of this verse: clarity (sattva) is the best of the three, yet clutched, even it becomes a chain. Tasting calm, I try to own it, grow anxious about losing it, and fall into the conceit 'I am an awakened person.' In that instant clarity becomes another prison. It is the Buddha's raft, not to be carried once the river is crossed. Even a good state, gripped, becomes a burden. True freedom is to enjoy clarity without owning it — to welcome it when it comes and release it when it goes.
