DAY 19

Meet the World with a Governed Mind, and Calm Follows

Bhagavad Gītā 2:64
기원전 2세기경 편찬(서사시 전승)
ORIGINAL
rāga-dveṣa-viyuktais tu viṣayān indriyaiś caran ... prasādam adhigacchati
📜 THE VERSE

Moving among the objects of the world with senses freed from craving and aversion, a self-governed mind arrives at clear serenity.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Do I see the world only through the tinted glasses of like and dislike, pushing my own calm away?

📝Reflection

In this verse I learn that calm does not come from fleeing the world. Remaining right in the midst of the world, a governed mind that is not dragged by the automatic reflex of like and dislike finds calm on the spot. It means the key is the mind's posture, not withdrawal. Even within a noisy day, I feel a small calm seep in simply by slowing, moment to moment, the urge to judge things good or bad.
