📜 THE VERSE

One whose self is unbound by outer contacts finds the joy that wells up within — a joy that does not run dry.

💡 TL;DR

In this verse I learn the seat of an unfailing joy.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Does my joy always require something from outside, or can I draw it up from within?

📝Reflection

In this verse I learn the seat of an unfailing joy. Joy that comes from outer stimulation vanishes when the stimulus fades, but joy welling up from within does not run dry when conditions change. This is not an asceticism that forbids enjoying the outer world, but an invitation not to root joy in the outside alone. One who can draw joy from within does not collapse when the outside shakes. Once a day or so, I seek the joy that rises simply from being quietly still, with no stimulation at all.
