Bringing my year-long, 365-day reading journey to a close, I open once more this great epic of Homer. Odysseus's ten years of wandering are no simple adventure tale. They are a majestic record of the human will, determined to return at all costs to its rightful place amid every temptation, every hardship, and the wrath of the gods. The moment I close the book's final page, I find myself asking: after voyaging through so much knowledge and so many other lives, where is my own Ithaca, the place I must reach? This book is not an ending but a preparation for the true voyage of our lives, about to begin again.
