All Conditioned Things Are Bound to Pass
All formed things are impermanent; arising and ceasing is their nature.
Am I gripping something too tightly, wishing it would last forever?
📝Reflection
This verse sounds sad, yet the longer you turn it over, the lighter the mind grows. That all things change means good things pass — but also that bad things do not stay. The present suffering, too, is a formed thing and will scatter someday. One great reason we suffer is that we try to hold the changing as if it were changeless, like blocking a flowing river with our hands. Impermanence is not a threat but a kindly suggestion to loosen our grip. Knowing that all things pass, we savor good moments more and despair less in hard ones.
🌱Apply It Today
If today is hard, repeat inwardly once: "this too is formed, it will not stay." In a good moment: "this too passes, so savor it now."
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
