Form and Emptiness Are One
Form is emptiness, emptiness is form. Form is not other than emptiness, nor emptiness other than form. Being and non-being are not two.
That thing I grip and cannot release — is it truly mine forever?
📝Reflection
"Form is emptiness" is Buddhism's most famous and most misunderstood line. It is not the nihilism that the world is void — quite the opposite. Because all forms ceaselessly change, having no fixed substance, this very moment is all the more precious. The realization that nothing is forever is not sorrow but freedom. Sand in the fist slips away regardless. So rather than hurting your palm by clenching, isn't it better to receive this moment's sunlight with an open hand? When we know emptiness, fullness at last grows light.
🌱Apply It Today
Picture one thing you fear losing today, and admit once: "this too will change." Paradoxically, in that moment you can enjoy it more at ease.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
