📜 THE VERSE

Drawing near to a good teacher is the root of all attainment.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Whom have I kept near lately, and with what am I being colored beside them?

📝Reflection

In this chapter, a youth named Sudhana journeys to fifty-three teachers in turn, seeking awakening. What is striking is that they include not only great monks but a boatman, a physician, a merchant, even a child. A good teacher is not only in some distant mountain. If I open my mind, every ordinary person I brush past each day offers a fragment of teaching. Yet we often choose carelessly whom to keep near. The people beside us are the air we breathe daily. What we are colored by is half decided by whom we choose to stand beside.

🌱Apply It Today

From one person you meet today, deliberately find "the one thing this person teaches me." A teacher is made not by credentials but by my gaze.
