DAY 126

What Profit in All the Toil Under the Sun

Ecclesiastes 1:3
기원전 3세기경 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
מַה־יִּתְרוֹן לָאָדָם בְּכָל־עֲמָלוֹ
📜 THE VERSE

What lasting profit does a person gain from all the toil at which they labor under the sun?

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

What am I toiling so hard to leave behind — and does it truly last?

📝Reflection

The Preacher is not a cynic but an honest accountant. He puts a lifetime of labor on the ledger and asks, "What is the net profit?" The question chills us because most of us live by postponing the answer. Yet it is a door to freedom, not despair. If nothing remains, then the worth of our toil lies not in the "result" but in "who we are while doing it." That the day of plowing — not the harvest — is the life, is what this ancient question hands back to us.
