DAY 146

Let Your Words Be Few

Ecclesiastes 5:2
기원전 3세기경 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
עַל־כֵּן יִהְיוּ דְבָרֶיךָ מְעַטִּים
📜 THE VERSE

Heaven is high and earth is deep; do not be hasty with your mouth, but let your words be few.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

How many words did I pour into places where silence would have been enough today?

📝Reflection

Before this counsel to speak little stands the backdrop "heaven is high and earth is deep." Feel first how small human words are before the vastness of the cosmos. Laozi too said "one who knows does not speak." The more words multiply, the more mistakes and regrets multiply. To speak little is not timidity but the humility of knowing the weight of one's own words. Truly important words are usually short, and travel farthest when silence supports them. Reduce your speech, and by that much the space in your heart widens.

🌱Apply It Today

In one meeting or conversation today, say only half of what you meant to, and swallow the other half.
