In Prosperity Rejoice, in Adversity Consider
In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider — both are set side by side, so no one can know what comes after.
On good days do I swell as if forever, and on bad days collapse as if it were the end?
📝Reflection
The Preacher sets prosperity and adversity side by side, like two faces of one palm. On good days rejoice fully, but on bad days learn through them. To be pulled by neither, knowing both pass — this is equanimity. Job said, "we received good, so we shall receive evil too," and the Buddha taught a mind unshaken by praise and blame. When the self of good days and the self of bad days stand at the same weight, the waves of life cannot capsize me. One who remembers the two days lie side by side loses himself on neither.
🌱Apply It Today
If today is good, write one line of thanks; if hard, one line of learning. Both days pass.
