DAY 318

Blessed Is the One Who Endures

James 1:12
기원후 1세기
ORIGINAL
μακάριος ἀνὴρ ὃς ὑπομένει πειρασμόν, ὅτι δόκιμος γενόμενος λήμψεται τὸν στέφανον.
📜 THE VERSE

Blessed is the one who endures trial; for having passed the test, he will receive the crown given to those who have proven true.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Do I only resent the test I face now, or do I see it as something to pass through?

📝Reflection

The Greek dokimos names metal proven pure by fire. James sees trial as such a test. The one who endures is proven, through the process, to be made of something real. The crown is not a prize handed from outside but the stature a person is shaped into by enduring. In ease, we cannot tell who is genuine. The one who does not collapse even while shaken—that is the one who has passed the test.
