Look Also to the Interests of Others
Let each of you look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Was I so absorbed in my own affairs today that I missed the struggle of someone right beside me?
📝Reflection
Paul does not say to ignore your own affairs entirely. He says look to your own, but "also" to others'—widen your view just a little. The Greek skopeo means to watch attentively, as one aims at a target. We mostly stare only at the target of our own problems. Yet lift your gaze for a moment to look beside you, and there is someone struggling as much as you, right there. When I feel only my own load is heavy, in truth everyone is walking under a load of their own.
🌱Apply It Today
Even amid your own work today, ask one person beside you first: "How have you been lately?"
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
