DAY 31

Who Walks Uprightly Walks Secure

Proverbs 10:9
기원전 10~4세기
ORIGINAL
הוֹלֵךְ בַּתֹּם יֵלֶךְ בֶּטַח
📜 THE VERSE

Whoever walks uprightly walks securely, but whoever takes crooked ways will be found out.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Do I carry so much to hide that a corner of my heart is always uneasy?

📝Reflection

The greatest reward of honesty is not honor but peace of mind. One with nothing to hide walks lightly, for there is nothing to fear even if someone digs from behind. The one who took the crooked road, by contrast, keeps glancing back — never resting, anxious about when he will be caught, where the pieces will fail to fit. The Hebrew sage saw honesty not as morality but as a practical matter. It is like Mencius saying that if you look within and stand blameless, you fear not even ten thousand foes. Living straight seems like loss, but it is the cheapest insurance for sleeping easy your whole life.
