A Way That Seems Right

Proverbs 14:12

יֵשׁ דֶּרֶךְ יָשָׁר לִפְנֵי־אִישׁ וְאַחֲרִיתָהּ דַּרְכֵי־מָוֶת
📜 THE VERSE

There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end leads elsewhere.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Trusting only the certainty that 'this is right,' have I failed to look where the road ends?

📝Reflection

The most dangerous road is not the one that looks wrong from the start but the one that seems right yet ends astray. Human judgment sees only what is before it, so what seems right now is not guaranteed right to the end. The Hebrew sage warns against trusting 'it looks right to my eyes.' Certainty often makes us skip verification. So the wise, before deciding, ask once more: 'Where does this road end?' The eye that sees the rightness of the end, not just the start, is what divides hasty certainty from careful wisdom. The humility to doubt one's own certainty, even once, prevents great mistakes.

🌱Apply It Today

Before a choice that feels 'surely right' today, ask once: 'Will this still be right a year from now?'
