DAY 84

Avoid One Who Talks Too Much

Proverbs 20:19
기원전 10~6세기 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
גּוֹלֶה־סּוֹד הוֹלֵךְ רָכִיל וּלְפֹתֶה שְׂפָתָיו לֹא תִתְעָרָב
📜 THE VERSE

A gossip betrays a confidence; avoid anyone who talks too much.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Am I one to whom a secret can be entrusted, or one who will pass it on?

📝Reflection

Before someone who passes along others' stories with relish, I too will one day become the material. One with a loose mouth is briefly entertaining but hard to trust for long. This verse's caution is not to hate such a person but a practical counsel: do not entrust them a secret. And more important, do not become that mouth yourself. People stay long beside the one whose mouth is heavy.

🌱Apply It Today

If someone leaks another's secret today, however juicy, do not spread it further — let it stop with you.
