Be Not Wise in Your Own Eyes
Do not be wise in your own eyes.
How many chances to learn have I lost precisely because I was sure I was wise?
📝Reflection
The hardest person to teach is not the ignorant one but the one who believes himself wise. Into a cup thought already full, not one more drop enters. The Hebrew sage saw this conceit as wisdom's greatest enemy. Just as Socrates became wisest by refusing to count himself wise before the Delphic oracle, real wisdom always places itself on the slightly lacking side. To be 'wise in one's own eyes' is a bolt that locks the door of growth from the inside. Only the one who unlocks it himself keeps growing.
🌱Apply It Today
When you meet someone who thinks differently today, before rebutting, first ask: 'Could they be right?'
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
