DAY 120

Neither Poverty Nor Riches

Proverbs 30:8
기원전 10~6세기 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
רֵאשׁ וָעֹשֶׁר אַל־תִּתֶּן־לִי הַטְרִיפֵנִי לֶחֶם חֻקִּי
📜 THE VERSE

Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me only with the bread I need.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Between having more and lacking less, do I know which is true sufficiency?

📝Reflection

This ancient wish is plain but deep — the prayer of one who knows that too little shrinks the heart and too much puffs it with pride. Sufficiency is not having much but knowing to be content with what is needed. It is the spirit of being poor yet joyful in the way. To hold that today's needed bread is enough — with that heart, having little you do not lack, and having much you do not sway.
