DAY 207

A Soul Thirsting in a Dry Land

Psalm 63:1

ORIGINAL
צָמְאָה לְךָ נַפְשִׁי
📜 THE VERSE

In a dry and weary land where there is no water, my soul thirsts, my whole body longs.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

In the "dry land" of my life, what do I long for most intensely?

📝Reflection

This poem is said to have been written in the wilderness. The thirst of a waterless desert becomes a mirror of the soul's longing. What is striking is that the most intense yearning is born in the driest place. In abundance we forget what we truly want; only lack points to it clearly. When my life ran dry, I only despaired. But that dry land was the most honest teacher of what I could not live without. Thirst was not a curse but also a compass pointing the way.
