🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"How does a single house that gathers books become the spirit of an age?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

The Kyujanggak that Kim Hong-do painted was the royal library and hall of learning that King Jeongjo founded. The trim pavilion and the scenery around it are not merely a building but the will of an age to make learning the foundation of the nation. In this painting I see that what one holds precious decides the age. The heart that built the most careful house in the finest place, all for the sake of books, made the dignity of an age. What one pours one's care into is the measure of that community.
