죽하맹호도
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What dignity does the tiger beneath the bamboo wish to speak of?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

In this painting made together by Kim Hong-do and Im Hui-ji, the tiger beneath the bamboo is full of dignity rather than ferocity. A tiger alive to its every hair meets the bamboo standing straight, and strength and uprightness come together on one surface. True strength is not revealed by growling but arises from overwhelming the surroundings even while at rest. Just as bamboo will break rather than bend, firm integrity carries even without raising its voice. Dignity comes not from display but from an inner posture that does not waver.
