"What does the face of an old scholar, gazing straight ahead, convey?"
📝ONGO's Reflection
This portrait meets Kang Se-hwang's face head-on, drawn plainly and without adornment. It is not turned aside in profile but set with the gaze straight forward. I see here the boldness of showing oneself just as one is. A frontal view leaves nowhere to hide. Wrinkles and expression appear exactly as they are. Neither the painter nor the one painted shrank from that honesty. People readily turn themselves aside to look their best, but the firmest impression comes instead from a face that stands squarely before us.
🌱Apply It Today
Rather than arranging your bearing to look your best, in one setting today stand facing things just as you are.
