"What is different about a landscape painted with fingers rather than a brush?"
📝ONGO's Reflection
This Chinese landscape, said to have been painted by Gao Qipei with his fingers, leaves rough and direct traces that a brush could not make. In lines passed through no tool, the warmth of the hand lingers as it is. To abandon the set method and paint with bare hands is the expression of a free spirit unwilling to be confined by form. When one doubts the limits a tool sets, a new path opens. The way one always uses is not the only way. Sometimes there is a landscape seen only when the familiar tool is set down.
