DAY 13

Content Within, Letting Go of Cravings

Bhagavad Gītā 2:55

📜 THE VERSE

When one lets go of every craving that stirs the mind, and is content within, by the self alone — such a one is called steady in wisdom.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Does my contentment always require getting something outside, or can I draw it up from within?

📝Reflection

In this verse I relearn where the spring of contentment lies. Craving that seeks to fill from outside grows thirstier the more it drinks, but contentment drawn from within does not dry up when conditions change. Here is Laozi's wisdom that the one who knows enough is rich. Before asking today what more I must have to be satisfied, I first draw one sip of contentment from what I already hold.
