DAY 307

Love Does Not Envy or Boast

1 Corinthians 13:4b
기원후 1세기
ORIGINAL
ἡ ἀγάπη οὐ ζηλοῖ, οὐ περπερεύεται, οὐ φυσιοῦται.
📜 THE VERSE

Love does not envy; love does not brag and is not proud.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

When someone I love succeeds, do I truly rejoice with them?

📝Reflection

The hardest test of love comes when the other outshines us. The misfortune of someone we dislike is easy to bear, but the happiness of someone we love can, strangely, sting. Paul names that subtle place precisely: not envying, not boasting, not swelling up. Love is setting the other down off the scale where we measure them against ourselves. To not feel smaller when they grow larger—that is mature love.
