Rejoice Always, Give Thanks in Everything
Rejoice always, and give thanks in all circumstances.
Today, did I count more things to be thankful for, or more to complain about?
📝Reflection
The words "always" and "in all circumstances" make this verse hard. Anyone rejoices in good things—but to rejoice always and give thanks in everything? This is not pretending bad things are good. It is the insight that gratitude comes not from circumstance but from where you look. In the same day, things to thank for and things to complain of stand side by side, yet we mostly count the complaints first. Gratitude is not forcing into being what is not there but the practice of seeing again what was already there but unseen. Just turning the gaze a little toward thanks stains the same day a different color.
🌱Apply It Today
Before sleep tonight, count on your fingers three things to be thankful for, however small.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
