In Much Wisdom Is Much Grief
For in much wisdom is much grief, and one who increases knowledge increases sorrow.
Has knowing more set me freer, or has seeing more only made me heavier?
📝Reflection
The Preacher praises wisdom, then honestly confesses its shadow. Those who know much, ache much. They see the world's absurdity more sharply and notice, before others, the cracks no one else sees. This verse is not anti-intellectual, because it counts the bearing of knowledge's weight as part of wisdom itself. The Buddha too said awakening begins in facing suffering directly. That knowing becomes sorrow is unavoidable, but only one who embraces that sorrow back into wisdom truly grows up.
🌱Apply It Today
If knowing something weighed on you today, move that knowledge one step: "So what will I do differently?"
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
