DAY 148

Sweet Is the Sleep of the Laborer

Ecclesiastes 5:12
기원전 3세기경 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
מְתוּקָה שְׁנַת הָעֹבֵד
📜 THE VERSE

The sleep of a laborer is sweet, whether they eat little or much; but the abundance of the rich will not let them sleep.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

What am I tossing awake at night to guard — and is it worth the trade of sleep?

📝Reflection

Sweet sleep comes not from a bank account but from the close of a day well spent. One who has used their body drifts off naturally at evening, while one with much to guard finds that very abundance hardening the pillow. As possessions grow, so does the fear of losing them. The Preacher does not curse wealth; he simply sees honestly the insomnia it brings. It is like the Stoic "do not let what you own come to own you." To spend a day honestly and lie down lightly — that sweet sleep is worth more than any fortune.

🌱Apply It Today

Before sleep tonight, write one worry for tomorrow on paper and set it down, saying "this belongs to tomorrow."
