DAY 163

Live Joyfully with the One You Love

Ecclesiastes 9:9
기원전 3세기경 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
רְאֵה חַיִּים עִם־אִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר־אָהַבְתָּ
📜 THE VERSE

Enjoy life with the one you love, all the fleeting days you are given; that is your portion in your toil.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Am I letting today with the one I love slip by, postponing it to some "someday"?

📝Reflection

Right beside the language of impermanence, "fleeting days," the Preacher sets the warm prescription "live joyfully with the one you love." This is impermanence's reversal. Because the days are short and passing, the person beside us becomes all the more precious. We postpone love for "someday, when I have room." But that someday is just one of the days that will scatter like vapor. To eat together, hold hands, share an unremarkable day — that ordinariness is, in truth, the whole of the portion life has given me. One who knows impermanence does not postpone love.
