Job 28:12

וְהַחָכְמָה מֵאַיִן תִּמָּצֵא וְאֵי זֶה מְקוֹם בִּינָה
📜 THE VERSE

But where shall wisdom be found, and where is the place of understanding?

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Do I seek wisdom outside, in more information, forgetting to look within?

📝Reflection

Job 28 sings that humans mine deep minerals from the earth yet do not know where to dig for wisdom. Wisdom cannot be bought in the market or dug from the ground. This question runs deep because of its insight that wisdom differs from knowledge. Information is gathered from outside, but wisdom grows only within, where that information has been digested into life. As the Buddha sought the mind in seven places and realized it was in none, so wisdom is not in any place the hand can grasp. The very humility of asking "where is wisdom?" is already the first step of wisdom. For one who thinks they know it all, there is no room for wisdom to dwell.

🌱Apply It Today

For one thing you thought you fully knew, ask "what do I still not know?" — and open a gap for wisdom to enter.
