ὅταν κληθῇς, πορευθεὶς ἀνάπεσε εἰς τὸν ἔσχατον τόπον

When you are invited, take the lowest place. For whoever exalts themselves will be humbled, and whoever humbles themselves will be exalted.

The urge to claim the best seat in advance usually comes from anxiety. It is the ease that comes from a quiet confidence that one's worth needs no proof spoken by one's own mouth.
