The Wise Listen and Grow
The wise listen even when they already know, and so they add to their learning.
Did I let a word pass today because I assumed I already knew it?
📝Reflection
The fork between the fool and the wise is not the amount they know but the posture of their ears. The fool shuts his ears saying 'I know that,' while the wise listen once more even to the familiar. The Hebrew sage saw wisdom not as a filled vessel but as a verb that keeps adding. It is the same ground where Confucius said that among any three walking together, one is surely his teacher. The moment we assume we know it all, learning stops; the humility to listen once more is what keeps a person growing.
🌱Apply It Today
When 'I already know that' rises to your throat today, swallow it and let the other person finish their sentence.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
