DAY 47

Pride Only Breeds Quarrels

Proverbs 13:10
기원전 10~4세기
ORIGINAL
רַק־בְּזָדוֹן יִתֵּן מַצָּה וְאֶת־נוֹעָצִים חָכְמָה
📜 THE VERSE

Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with those who take advice.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

At the root of the conflicts I keep repeating, is there my own pride refusing to lose?

📝Reflection

Dig into the seed of a quarrel and you usually find, beneath the issue itself, the pride of 'I am right.' The actual matter is small, but the refusal to lose swells it into war. The Hebrew sage traced the cause of strife not to circumstances but to pride. By contrast, one who takes advice has little to fight over, for a single 'you have a point too' snuffs out most quarrels in advance. The one who wants to win loses the relationship; the one who wants to learn keeps it. If conflict keeps repeating, before arguing the matter, look first at the 'wish to win' inside yourself.

🌱Apply It Today

If you clash with someone today, before trying to win, first look for 'is there a point in what they say?'
