The harder you push, the more firmly the other digs in. Yet a gentle word, strangely, melts that firmness. This verse names the power in a paradox: a gentle tongue breaks even a bone. Gentleness is not weakness but another kind of strength, like water carving rock. The soft can overcome the hard. Before raising your voice, trying a gentle word once usually carries farther.
