DAY 110

Let Another Praise You

Proverbs 27:2
기원전 10~6세기 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
יְהַלֶּלְךָ זָר וְלֹא־פִיךָ נָכְרִי וְאַל־שְׂפָתֶיךָ
📜 THE VERSE

Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

In my hunger to be recognized, do I keep pushing my own merits forward?

📝Reflection

The moment I lift myself with my own mouth, the value strangely drops. Self-praise, however true, rings hollow. This verse puts a cool brake on the hunger to be recognized. Real recognition is not made by me but granted by another's eyes. Build your skill quietly, and one day it comes from someone else's mouth without your having to say it — and that lasts far longer.
