DAY 117

One Who Is Hasty in Words

Proverbs 29:20
기원전 10~6세기 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
חָזִיתָ אִישׁ אָץ בִּדְבָרָיו תִּקְוָה לִכְסִיל מִמֶּנּוּ
📜 THE VERSE

Do you see one who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Before a thought has ripened, do I let words rush out ahead of it?

📝Reflection

A word that leaps out before a thought ripens usually leaves me wishing I could gather it back. A hastily spat remark often costs more than a long-chewed silence. This verse coolly warns against the one hasty in words. The ease of thinking three times and speaking once is, in fact, the fastest road. When the mouth runs ahead, the heart is always worn out chasing it. Simply delaying a word by one beat makes half of regret disappear.
