Do Not Say, Come Back Tomorrow
When you have it with you, do not tell your neighbor, "Come back tomorrow, and I will give it."
Am I, out of habit, pushing to tomorrow a good thing I could do right now?
📝Reflection
If the previous verse said not to withhold good, this one points to its timing. To postpone to tomorrow what you could give now is, in the end, the same as not giving. Postponement carries a faint scent of power: it makes the other come once more, makes them wait. The Hebrew sage did not miss that small lording-over. Help has an expiration date, and late help is only half a help. To hand over now what is in hand now — that immediacy keeps goodwill pure.
🌱Apply It Today
If you have something to give or answer someone today, do not postpone — handle it right now.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
