DAY 200

Days the Width of a Hand

Psalm 39:5
기원전 10~5세기
ORIGINAL
הִנֵּה טְפָחוֹת נָתַתָּה יָמַי
📜 THE VERSE

See, you have made my days but a handbreadth; my whole lifetime is as nothing before it.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

If my life is a handbreadth, what do I want to fill that span with?

📝Reflection

The poet likens a whole lifetime to the width of a hand. A life that seemed vast is suddenly set on the palm. This looks like a song of futility, but it is the opposite. Because it is short, it is precious. A summer day feels longer than a winter one because we know it will soon be gone. When I thought life was long, I spent it cheaply. Only after knowing it is a handbreadth did I want to spend each joint of that span with care. Awareness of brevity breeds not despair but focus.

🌱Apply It Today

Open your palm and measure a handbreadth today. If that span is your life, choose one thing to place in the joint called today.
