DAY 185

To Lie Down and Sleep in Peace

Psalm 4:8
기원전 10~5세기
ORIGINAL
בְּשָׁלוֹם יַחְדָּו אֶשְׁכְּבָה וְאִישָׁן
📜 THE VERSE

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for something alone keeps me dwelling in safety.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

What must I set down tonight before I can finally sleep?

📝Reflection

Sleep is the moment a human most honestly lays down all armor. If worry remains, the body may lie down while the mind stays standing. This short verse has been loved so long because it names the secret of sleep exactly: you do not sleep because peace has come — peace comes because you let go. I used to toss all night clutching what I could not control. Handing the day over to something larger and quieter than myself, and closing my eyes — that, it turned out, was the whole art of rest.

🌱Apply It Today

Before lying down tonight, take one worry that can wait, say aloud "this belongs to tomorrow," and set it down.
