DAY 343

Repay No One Evil for Evil

Romans 12:17
기원후 1세기
ORIGINAL
μηδενὶ κακὸν ἀντὶ κακοῦ ἀποδιδόντες, προνοούμενοι καλὰ ἐνώπιον πάντων ἀνθρώπων.
📜 THE VERSE

Repay no one evil for evil. Give thought to doing what is good in the sight of all.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

When hurt, which do I plan first—how to strike back, or how to let it go?

📝Reflection

Repaying evil with evil is instinct. Struck, we want to strike; wronged, we want to return it. Paul says break the chain of that instinct. Revenge feels relieving for a moment, but in that moment I too become part of the evil. One who repays resentment steps into the same mud as the other. More often than feeling clean after striking back, I felt dirtier. To not repay evil with evil is not weakness but the strong choice to refuse to attach the next link to that chain.

🌱Apply It Today

Even if someone is rude to you today, instead of returning it in kind, simply let it pass with composure.
