So Far as It Depends on You, Live at Peace
If possible, so far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
In this conflict, have I done all that was mine to do?
📝Reflection
In this verse I am struck by Paul's honesty. Even as he commands "live at peace with everyone," he attaches two conditions: "if possible," and "so far as it depends on you." He admits that peace is not always possible. A relationship is not made alone; however far I extend my hand, the other may not take it. So what I am responsible for is not the other's response but my own part. If I have done all I could on my side, the rest is not my burden. Knowing this boundary is peace within relationships.
🌱Apply It Today
Bring one strained relationship to mind today, do the "one thing on your side," then set the outcome down.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
