🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What was in the heart that drew letters like pictures and stood them around the home?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

A munjado is a folk painting that renders characters such as filial piety or loyalty as images upon a screen. Within the letters dwell birds, fish, and flowers, so that meaning and form become one body. I see here the wish to keep a value one would uphold where the eyes can find it. People forget a resolve kept only in the head. So the old ones stood it upon the wall and faced it each day. When what we would engrave on the heart is made into form and kept beside us, that value does not blur but seeps into the daily round.
